Formatting of Table and Extended Markdown
It would be great if we could benefit from Extended Markdown, and in particular the ability to create and format tables. I have tried to work with tables or to import tables generated by LLMs and I am unable to get them formatted. I might be missing something, or the feature is not included, and it would be really great to have. Smolpad is absolutely great, and this would make a real difference to me, and maybe others.
Build Version
Hi, please could you add the Build Version with the version in the About dialog? It is easier for the beta testers to check the current version used.
Loosing Focus on Smolpad
I’ve made many tests (in beta Version), and each time I create a folder, the focus is not placed on the text field to write the name of the new folder. Perhaps i have a conflict, because sometimes, when i write texts in a note, the focus goes away after a second. I don’t have the problem when i write this text, or in Mail for example just before or just after…. Edit : I found the reason ! I had the SmoldPad folder opened in the finder and I wrote or edit the title (first line) of a note… the focus goes away, and no more in the case when I write the corpus of the note And finally, same problem if the folder is not opened on the finder, focus goes away when we edit the title and so the name of md file in iCloud !
Corrective tools integration
To correct my text as I type, I use LanguageTool, which checks spelling and grammar regardless of the language. It’s built into Mail, web browsers, and even TextEdit. Unfortunately, it’s not in SmolPad, but I figure that if TextEdit supports it, there must be a way to make it work with SmolPad, right?
integration with the finder
You propose Menubar, Dock and Menubar & Dock. But is it possible to have the following behavior? Default: Menubar, but if we drag the Main Window (to set it permanent), that Smolpad appears in the command ⌘-Tab of the finder?
Set a Custom Folder name for attached images
Allow the user to set the name of the folder that the app will store images in.
Proposals of management of images
(in version 1.3.5 - macOS) Great integration of the images. Thanks. Some first remarks: 1) When we drag an image, Smolpad editor is not always opened at this time... Is it possible to add this behavior: dragging a picture over the menuBar icon opens the smolpad editor, to permit inserting the image. 2) Reducing the displayed image in the note (it is a note, not a page editor). I don’t know on which fixed size, perhaps though a setting or a size as a big icon (width=124 px), and by clicking (with modifier) on it showing the image in a bigger size in an erruptive and temporary window, but please let the copied image with the initial size in the smolpad folder 3) give a mean to retrieve the image y click and drag again (perhaps click and modifiers, one for copy, one for move, the iamge ? 4) if we delete the copied image in the Smolpad folder, the text is still present (normal i thing), perhaps a message should appear to alert the user ? or the text of the link to the image in red ?) But great: if I copy again the image in the folder (same name), the image appears again in the note. 5) link to the image : i saw 2 types of text : and Why ? And about the [] I thought it was to add a title? But not. 6) I thought it would be a problem with 2 images with the same name (in the same note or not) : Great implementation... Except if we delete an image in the note, the image is staying in the Smolpad folder. 7) I don’t understand the second choice in the menu of the setting (./assets) ??? 8) Do you need help for the FR translation for this new menu? Are other sentences around the images?
no more X icon to quit the app on MacOS !
I wondered if this was a bug, but in reality, it’s just me making the same mistake over and over: clicking the “X” to return to the current application. But actually, it’s natural to think that way, because SmolPad is a “menu bar” application that launches when the session starts (and therefore remains active at all times). I’d like the behavior of this “X” icon to be changed so that it closes (rather than quits) the SmolPad window (just like when you click outside the SmolPad window).
Export to PDF
The ability to export a Markdown file to PDF would be nice. Also with a choice of stylesheets to choose from.
Shortcut to launch SmolPad ?
Hi, Perhaps I’m wrong, but I’m quite sure that we could display SmolPad with a shortcut before Version 1.3.4, but I don’t find anymore the field in the settings where i could change it… Bug or bad memory ? Best regards, Ange
pCloud sync for files
In addition to offering Dropbox as a paid feature, we will offer pCloud sync for your notes.
Another small disturbance.
Usually, with most of the menu bar apps, when I click on the icon, something opens (a window, popover…); then, I click again on the icon, object closes. With Smolpad, when I click again, the window closes but reopens instantly, and so on. The window closes only if I click on the Desktop.
Hello,
I’m running macOS 27 B5. When I click the contectuel menu Delete a note command, a window appears. If I click the Delete button (or the Cancel button), the window disappears, deleting or canceling anything. When I reopen Smolpad, this window is still there, with the very same problem, and I can’t do anything other than force quit the app.
Show folder on iPhone
on mac, we can access to the smolpad folder on iCloud by simple clic. Not possible on the iPhone ? - Ange
Notes List Width
permit the user to change the width of the list (if long names), perhaps with a limitation, and through a menu in settings, to avoid to see the change of the mouse aspect when passing over the limit... - Ange
Possible Sorting Bug
sort is not reactive (menu set to Ttile order + change of the first letter of the name => no re-sort) seems to have kept the original name ?
iPhone: Dragging Notes
drag notes on iPhone seems to be not correct : a note is with difficulty drageable, but on release, it comes back to its original location. (Ok on mac) drag a note on folder (or on Folder name) AND move a note outside a folder are not ok on iPhone (ok on Mac)
Icons are Flashing
on iPhone, icons on Top are "flashing" when you switch between editor/list views
