SmolPad in my Folder Documents ?

Hi,

I was surprised to see that i have a SmolPad folder in my Documents (/<user>/Documents), which has a SmolPad icon, and contains a folder “SmolPad”, which one contains only the Welcome.md file! I don’t remember I have created this Folder !?!

All my current notes are right located in iCloud/SmolPad…

Best regards,

Ange

    @Ange

Good catch, and sorry for the confusion. That folder is Smolpad's, not yours.

On its very first launch Smolpad creates a notes folder and writes the welcome note into it, before it has finished checking whether iCloud is available. Once it finds your iCloud, it copies everything across and moves in there for good. The first folder gets left behind with the welcome note still in it, which is what you found.

Nothing of yours is in it and nothing is lost. Your notes are all in iCloud/Smolpad, which is the right place. You can delete the leftover folder and Smolpad won't notice.

I'm fixing it so the app cleans up after itself. One thing that would help me: could you right-click that folder, choose Get Info, and send me the full path shown next to "Where"? And do you have Desktop & Documents Folders syncing to iCloud Drive turned on? The exact spot it turned up doesn't match what I can reproduce here, and I'd like to fix the real cause rather than a guess at it.

The “visible” path to the file Welcome to Smolpad.md is :

      Untitled • Utilisateurs • Famille • Documents • Smolpad • Smolpad

And through a copy paste :

      /Users/<User>

      /Library/Containers/works.bacon.Smolpad/Data/Documents/Smolpad

I’m surprised with this second "version” of this path…. (is it due to your other app Symbiote ?

@Ange No it is not symbiote.

It’s a temporary folder that Smolpad used to make the welcome document. It is a bug. I’ve fixed this today and will be in the next version.

To complete, I’ve no sync with iCloud on these folders. I have a backup on pCloud, from my Mac > pCloud, but normally no sync (I still have a doubt with pCloud, their tools are more sync than Backup ! (if you delete a file on your mac, the backup is deleted too on the backup (through a bin) ! I currently make some tests…

Machine generated french reply but I hope it helps :)

        Bonjour @Ange,

          Hi,

          • No explicit action done from pCloud to my mac.

          • I’ve answered about the path in my previous commentaries

          • And i’ve already deleted this Folder last week as you suggested me… But it is come back today (at 15:30!) (please see pictures) and i’ve updated around 17:00…). Perhaps i have to deleted it again and see at the lnext version ?
